
Ground Gas
Ground gas is a sensitive issue for many redevelopers, residents and land owners due to the potentially catastrophic effects of a gas build up. Ground gas can be associated with many areas including landfill, made ground, alluvium, canals and railways.
EMS aims to make any ground gas investigation suitable to fulfil the requirements of undertaking a risk assessment. Gas monitoring is carried out in accordance with all current guidance including CIRIA C665.
Ground gas investigations can include and of the following elements:
- Monitor Methane, Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Oxygen and Hydrogen Sulphide
- Assess the presence of trace compounds, such as hydrogen cyanide
- Check for volatile organic compounds
- Determine flow rates
- Take readings over a wide range of atmospheric conditions and pressures
- Provide design of gas protective measures and other remedial options, if required.
- Undertake radon testing
We regularly liase with the relevant organizations to ensure both the client and authority requirements are met during investigation.
