
Oil Tank Risk Assessments
The government is required by the EC Directives on Dangerous Substances (76/464/EEC) and Groundwater (80/68/EEC) to prevent pollution of the water environment rather than to treat the pollution after the event. For organisations with oil storage facilities, there is a duty to both avoid causing pollution and to comply with the Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001. EMS offers the following services to aid companies fulfil their duties:
- Oil tank risk assessment through hazard identification and vunerability analysis
- Development of emergency contingency plans following the guidance given in the Health and Safety Executives Technical Measures Document: 'Emergency Response/Spill Control'
- Development of long term management plans to prevent spillage and prioritise accordingly
