Soakaway Design

Sustainable drainage has become an integral part of both new and re-developmental schemes due to the introduction of the Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS) guidance. SUDS offers a modern alternative to the adverse effects, such as pollution flushes and flooding, normally associated with more traditional drainage schemes.

Soakaways form part of the SUDS principle and offer an underground reservoir which allows stormwater to gradually infiltrate the ground.

EMS offers a full soakaway design service from initial trial pit construction, drainage time trials and soakaway time plotting. From this information, we can provide options for various models of both trench and ring design systems. All designs are produced in accordance with BRE Digest 365.
