Geo-Environmental Engineer Required

Environmental Management Solutions Ltd are currently seeking a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join their thriving Environmental Consultancy based in Herefordshire. The Geo-Environmental section of the business has been operating for several years; a critical part of the role will be to grow the team and expand from this established base.

The role is an exciting opportunity to run the contaminated land and geotechnical services for the company and is a balance between site work and office work; with regular client and regulatory liaisons. Initially, you will be the sole permanent member of the team, thus overall responsibility for this section will be yours.

The position will include client contact to establish the requirements and scope for the projects, provide cost estimates and plan / programme work once secured.

You will take the lead on ensuring the smooth operation of site works whilst meeting all health and safety requirements and meet technical standards of work. The successful candidate will require experience of all stages of geo-environmental investigations including Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 intrusive investigations and validation reports. You will need experience of all geotechnical techniques e.g. hand pit digging, window sample drilling, rotary drilling and you will also be expected to prepare accurate, high quality reports. Experience of ground gas monitoring and interpretation would be an advantage.

Stakeholder communication is critical to ensure that all requirements for works are met. You should be confident and competent to answer all client, local authority, Environmental Agency queries and recognise when additional stakeholder correspondence is necessary.

Ideally the candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience
  • Commercial and financial awareness
  • A relevant degree
  • Experience of report writing to a high standard
  • Experience of  preparing quotations for clients
  • An extensive portfolio of site experience
  • A full UK driving licence
