EMS recently held our third annual staff conference at the Green Dragon Hotel in Hereford, conveniently located near our head office in Hereford city centre. Given the geographically dispersed nature of our team, many of our surveyors and consultants are based across the UK and frequently on the road. Our staff conference offers a valuable and rare opportunity to bring everyone together. The conference is aimed to help our staff to connect, engage in professional development, and participate in team-building activities.
One of the highlights of the day was our fundraising initiative in support of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity — a cause specific to our industry that EMS has supported for the past three years.
The Lighthouse Charity provides 24/7 holistic support for our UK and Ireland construction community on all aspects of emotional, physical and financial wellbeing.
A crucial element of the charity’s strategy is to provide a range of free and widely available reactive and proactive resources to support the construction industry.
Lighthouse offer a free and confidential 24/7 helpline, live web chat service and text facility which provides a range of information, guidance and support on a huge variety of wellbeing issues. These services are complemented by a free self-support app, along with Lighthouse Beacons which provide a safe space for people to share concerns.
Our team generously contributed a variety of raffle prizes ,including gift vouchers, artwork, alcohol, and even novelty biscuits featuring Director Jamie Perkins-Best! Thanks to the generosity of our staff, we successfully raised £277 for this vital industry charity.
The day began with presentations from Director Jamie Perkins-Best and departmental leaders, providing valuable business updates and training. This was followed by a series of team-building activities, including a “Guess Who” session where colleagues shared surprising facts about themselves, and an EMS-themed trivia quiz!
We concluded the event with an afternoon of social activities, including axe throwing and mini golf where we were hosted by Matrix Hereford and was a perfect mix of fun and networking with colleagues.
